DITTE BERKLEY (DAN,UK)

Music Supervisor


Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, but resided and studied in Barcelona. She holds a BA Hons from Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, London, UK. After her graduation in 2001, she join the Grotowski Insitute and its newly created company Teatr ZAR, where she works as a performer and researcher in the field of voice. Amongst the performances of Teatr ZAR, she performs in and is co-creator of: Gospels of Childhood- Fragments on Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood (2003), Caesarean Section – Essays on Suicide (2007), Anhelli-The Calling (2010). As well as being a theatre practitioner she is initiator and coordinator of the VoicEncounters festival meetings.  Alongside the activity with Teatr ZAR, she collaborates with Studio Matejka in their vocal training and musical work. She is leader of the workshop “Into the Sound” which focuses strongly on the polyphonic songs of Georgian tradition.

She is leader of Teatr ZAR's workshop “Into the Sound” which focuses strongly on the polyphonic songs of Georgian tradition, and leads her own workshop "Voice Tale (Speaking Song)", based on her personal exploration of the voice in the work with Tear ZAR and Studio Matejka.
